The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 4:13 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Finlay, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi and Raymond Simard.
Acting Members present: Jocelyne Girard-Bujold for Suzanne Tremblay and Dick Proctor for Libby Davies.
Other Member present: Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin and Kevin Kerr, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Auto Workers Union: Laurell Ritchie, National representative, Training & Work Organization Department. From the Canadian Labour Congress: Kenneth V. Georgetti, President; Tamara Levine, Co-ordinator, Workplace Literacy Project. From the The Alliance of Sector Councils: Gary Grenman, Executive Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Literacy.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
