Tuesday, March 18, 2003

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 3:26 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, John Finlay, Monique Guay, Judi Longfield, Monte Solberg and Diane St-Jacques.

Acting Member present: Sébastien Gagnon for Suzanne Tremblay

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin and Kevin Kerr, Research Officers.

Witness: From Statistics Canada: Scott Murray, Director General, Institutions and Social Statistics.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Study on Literacy.

The witness made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
