The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Marlene Catterall, Rodger Cuzner, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Dale Johnston, Joe Jordan, Gerald Keddy, Lynn Myers, Jacques Saada and Benoît Sauvageau.

 

Acting Members present: Diane Ablonczy for John Reynolds, Gilbert Barrette for Carolyn Parrish, Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Geoff Regan, Grant McNally for Werner Schmidt and Paddy Torsney for Judi Longfield.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal; John M. Wright, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Grant Hill, Macleod; Eugène Bellemare, Ottawa—Orléans.

 
Pursuant to provisional Standing Order 92, the Committee commenced consideration of the First Report of the Subcommittee on Private Members' Business.
 

Grant Hill made a statement and answered questions.

 

Lynn Myers moved, — That the First Report of the Subcommittee on Private Members' Business be concurred in.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Gilbert Barrette, Marlene Catterall, Rodger Cuzner, Yvon Godin, Joe Jordan, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Lynn Myers, Jacques Saada, Benoît Sauvageau, Paddy Torsney — 10; NAYS: Diane Ablonczy, Dale Johnston, Grant McNally — 3.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, May 13, 2003, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-408, An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act (oath or solemn affirmation).
 

Eugène Bellemare made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:42 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(i), the Committee resumed consideration of security on the Hill.
 

At 12:44 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
