The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:24 o’clock p.m., this day, in
room 237-C , Centre Block , the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Elinor Caplan, Aileen Carroll, Claude Drouin, Maurice Dumas, Grant Hill, Lynn Myers, Rose-Marie Ur, Joseph Volpe, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Nancy Miller-Chenier and Gérald Lafrenière, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of natural health products. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, November 20, 1997.)
Witnesses: From the Ontario Herbalist’s Association: Keith Stelling, Editor, Canadian Journal of Herbalism; Mona Rainville, Member. From the « Guilde des Herboristes »: Marie Provost, Vice-President of the Board; Valérie Lanctôt-Bédard, Member of the Board. From the Canadian Academy of Herbal Medicine: Linda Brosseau, Professor.
Keith Stelling, Marie Provost and Linda Brosseau made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 4:50 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
