Pursuant to an Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Thursday, May 18, 2017, the Subcommittee resumed its study of child labour and modern slavery.

Rakesh Patry and Chris Moran made statements and, with Michelle Sinclair, Claude Beauséjour, Robert McDougall and Mandy Sheldrake, answered questions.

At 1:53 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:54 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $12,100.00, for the study of child labour and modern slavery, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Canada’s Global Engagement on Human Rights Issues, Particularly Through the United Nations (UN) and its Agencies, the proposed budget in the amount of $122,657.37, for the Subcommittee’s travel to Geneva, Switzerland, in spring of 2018, be adopted, and that the necessary staff accompany the Subcommittee.

At 2:01 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
