Tuesday, February 25, 2003
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Odina Desrochers, John Finlay, Paul Forseth, Roger Gaudet, Mac Harb, Gerald Keddy, Sophia Leung, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Val Meredith, Shawn Murphy, Beth Phinney, Tony Tirabassi, Judy Wasylycia-Leis and John Williams.
Acting Member present: Joe Jordan for Massimo Pacetti.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Analysts.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee resumed consideration of a draft report on the Report of the Auditor General of Canada dated May 8, 2002 on Groupaction Communications. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, January 29, 2003, Meeting No. 9 and Monday, February 10, 2003, Meeting No. 12.)
It was agreed, - That the Committee adopt the Report as the TENTH REPORT of the Committee.
It was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government provide a comprehensive response to this Report.
It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Report as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.
It was agreed, - That the Chair table the TENTH REPORT in the House.
It was agreed, - That this Committee authorize the printing of a dissenting or complimentary opinion of any member of the Committee as an appendix to this report.
It was agreed, - That any dissenting or complimentary opinion be limited to not more than two (2) pages.
It was agreed, - That any dissenting or complimentary opinion be received in both official languages and in electronic format by the Clerk no later than noon, Monday, March 17, 2003.
It was agreed, - The Standing Committee on Public Accounts should, as can be arranged, call Vice Chief Charles Fox and other officials of the Assembly of First Nations to make a presentation about matters directly related to the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada Consent Form and on Chapter 15 of the October 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
It was agreed, - That the Public Accounts Committee invite Mr. Michael Wing, President of Union of Coast Guard Employees to appear before the Committee to give testimony on the Status of the Coast Guard.
At 5:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
