The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food met at 9:09 a.m., this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, Joe McGuire, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, John Harvard, Jake Hoeppner, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Sonya Dakers, Research Coordinator.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to review the Programs, Policies and Strategy on Agri-Food Research and Technology Transfer of the Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food Research Council for the years 1997 to 2002.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food Research Council: R.J. Dick Huggard, Chairperson; Norris Hoag, Director and Chair, Standing Committee on Strategic Planning and Assistant Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture; Linda M. Poste-Flynn, Executive Director.

Dick Huggard and Norris Hoag made opening statements and answered questions.

At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
