The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:08 a.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Murray Calder, John Harvard, Jake Hoeppner, Joe McGuire, Ian Murray, Dick Proctor and Rose-Marie Ur.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: From the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada: Tom Richardson, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Branch; Brian Paddock, Acting Director General, Economic and Policy Analysis.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to consider a study conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada entitled: Impact of Selected Federal Cost Recovery Initiatives on the Agri-Food Sector. (September 1998).
Tom Richardson and Brian Paddock made opening statements and answered questions.
At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
