Raquel Dancho moved, — Given that sexual assaults have increased by 75% and sexual violations against children have increased by nearly 120% over the past nine years;
The committee undertake a study of no less than eight meetings on the rise in violent crime, particularly sexual assault and intimate partner violence against women and children in Canada; that the committee invite the Minister of Public Safety and the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to appear as part of the study for no less than two hours each, separately; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.Debate arose thereon.
Alistair MacGregor moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “no less than eight” with the following “six”.

Jennifer O'Connell moved, — That given the testimony of the High Commissioner, and the unanimous adoption of the motion moved by Pam Damoff on Thursday, September 19, 2024, to initiate study into Russian-backed interference and far-right disinformation campaigns intended to manipulate the Canadian public, the committee immediately prioritise and begin its study.
Debate arose thereon.
