Chris Warkentin moved, — That the Committee send a letter to invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear no later than the week of March 7.
The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
YEAS: Jacques Gourde, Brigitte Sansoucy, Bev Shipley, Chris Warkentin — 4;
NAYS: Pierre Breton, Francis Drouin, Alaina Lockhart, Lloyd Longfield, Joe Peschisolido — 5.
Joe Peschisolido moved, — That the Committee send a letter to invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear at his earliest convenience.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.
Greg Meredith and Paul Mayers made statements and answered questions.
At 5:16 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 5:21 p.m., the sitting resumed.
On motion of Chris Warkentin, it was agreed, — That the Committee cover the cost, up to a maximum of $75, for the gift offered to the representative at the working lunch on Monday, February 22, 2016, with the delegation from the Mexican Secretariat of Agriculture.
On motion of Chris Warkentin, it was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food or departmental officials to appear on Monday, March 7, 2016 as part of its consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2015–16.
On motion of Chris Warkentin, it was agreed, — That the Committee invite witnesses to appear to study the topic of milk proteins for the meeting on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.
