Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, May 2, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the next agricultural policy framework.

Ray Orb, James Brennan, Paul Thoroughgood and Mark Brock made statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted on November 15, 2016, the Committee proceeded to a briefing on bovine tuberculosis in Alberta.

On motion of David Anderson, it was agreed, — That Kevin Sorenson, Martin Shields and Glen Motz be allowed to participate in the meeting.

Ross White and Warren Henry, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, and Brad Osadczuk made statements and, with Bob Lowe, answered questions.

Motion

Ruth Ellen Brosseau moved, — That, with regard to the issue of bovine tuberculosis in Alberta, the Committee convene a meeting as soon as possible and invite representatives of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and government officials to respond to questions and discuss related issues.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

NAYS: Pierre Breton, Francis Drouin, Alaina Lockhart, Lloyd Longfield, Joe Peschisolido — 5.

Motion

Ruth Ellen Brosseau moved, — That, with regard to the issue of bovine tuberculosis in Alberta, the Committee write to inform Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food of the issues heard during the November 22, 2016, meeting of the Committee and urge the Minister to take immediate action to address the situation.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
