Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 2, 2016, the Committee commenced its study on immigration to Atlantic Canada (M-39).

Laurie Hunter made a statement and, with Ümit Kiziltan and Corinne Prince, answered questions.

Motion

Shannon Stubbs moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee invite the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship to appear before committee and explain discrepancies between government claims that closing the Vegreville immigration processing centre was done for budgetary reasons and the new information showing that it was not.

Marwan Tabbara moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, the Committee resumed its study on immigration consultants.

David Cashaback, Michael MacDonald and Chris Meyers answered questions.

At 6:20 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $39,450.00, for the study on immigration to Atlantic Canada (M-39), be adopted.

At 6:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
