The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Carol Hughes, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman and Claude Patry.

 

Acting Members present: François Choquette for Manon Perreault, Anne-Marie Day for Jean Crowder, Wladyslaw Lizon for Devinder Shory and Jeff Watson for Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta: Cathy Giblin, Registrar and Director, Registration Services. Government of Ontario: Suzanne Gordon, Manager, Labour Market Integration Unit, Ontario Bridge Training Program, Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration. Government of Manitoba: Ximena Munoz, Commissioner, Office of the Manitoba Fairness Commissioner, Department of Labour and Immigration.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of A Framework for Success: Practical Recommendations to Further Shorten the Foreign Qualification Recognition Process.
 

Suzanne Gordon and Cathy Giblin made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That for the remainder of the meeting, Suzanne Gordon and Cathy Giblin be invited to answer questions with Ximena Munoz and, that during the questioning of witnesses there shall be seven (7) minutes allocated to each questioner.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Ximena Munoz made a statement and, with Suzanne Gordon and Cathy Giblin, answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
