The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Jean Crowder, Rodger Cuzner, Carol Hughes, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Claude Patry, Manon Perreault and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Chris Alexander for Phil McColeman and Parm Gill for Joe Daniel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Anne Argyris, Director, SME Policy; Susanna Cluff-Clyburne, Director, Parliamentary Relations. Federation of Canadian Municipalities: Bev Buckway, Board Member, Mayor, City of Whitehorse, Yukon, Chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Northern and Remote Forum; Erin Hogan, Board Member, Councillor, City of Thompson, Manitoba. Canadian Institute of Forestry: John Pineau, Executive Director. Construction Sector Council: Rosemary Sparks, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 17, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Skills Development in Remote Rural Communities in an Era of Fiscal Restraint.
 

Susanna Cluff-Clyburne made a statement and, with Anne Argyris, answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

John Pineau, Rosemary Sparks, Bev Buckway and Erin Hogan made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
