The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Rodger Cuzner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, François Lapointe, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe for Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Jean Rousseau for François Lapointe and Mike Sullivan for Chris Charlton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Association for Community Living: Tyler Hnatuk, Policy and Programs Officer. Canadian Association of Social Workers: Fred Phelps, Executive Director. Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada: Cathy Loblaw, President and Chief Executive Officer. As individuals: Edwina Eddy; Annie Guérin; Nathalie Roy.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 2, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-44, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code and the Employment Insurance Act and to make consequential amendments to the Income Tax Act and the Income Tax Regulations.
 

Cathy Loblaw, Tyler Hnatuk and Fred Phelps made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:52 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Nathalie Roy, Annie Guérin and Edwina Eddy made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:43 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 10:48 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
