APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES

DISCUSSION: SPACE ON LEVEL 4 OF THE HALL OF HONOUR INFILL

At the request of one of the members of the Working Group, Chris d’Entremont, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, reopened the discussion on the space on level 4 of the Hall of Honour infill. The Working Group agreed to postpone the decision to the next meeting on April 12, 2024.

CHAMBER DESIGN: LAYOUT & FURNITURE APPROACH

Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property, engaged with members of the Working Group for a discussion on the seating arrangement possibilities for the Centre Block Chamber post-rehabilitation. Considering the previous direction from the Board, that the existing footprint of the House of Commons Chamber not be expanded in the context of the Centre Block renovations, confirmation of Chamber functions were reviewed. It was noted that simultaneous interpretation be included in addition to those listed. The remainder of the discussion was to review priorities on the variables contributing to the design of the Chamber layout and obtain valuable feedback that will guide development of conceptual options for the seating arrangement and furniture typology.

She answered questions with Stéphan Aubé, Deputy Clerk, Administration (Acting) and Jennifer Garrett, Assistant Deputy Minister (Acting), Public Services and Procurement Canada. The Working Group provided feedback and decided to continue the discussion during the next meeting on April 12, 2024, where concept options based on the feedback would be available.

Stéphan Aubé, Deputy Clerk, Administration (Acting), presented the schedule and tentative agenda for future meetings in April, May and June, and agreed to share them with members before the next meeting on April 12, 2024. The Working Group agreed to the proposed schedule.
