A meeting of the Board of Internal Economy of the House of Commons was held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., in Room 225-A, West Block.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The minutes of the meeting of February 10, 2022, were approved for tabling.


At 11:04 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:07 a.m., the meeting resumed in camera.


SECURITY MATTERS

The Board discussed a security matter.


At 11:48 a.m., the meeting resumed in public.


BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The Board took note of correspondence distributed since its last meeting.

Board members discussed concerns regarding hybrid committee proceedings. The Board agreed that these concerns, including the importance for committees to follow guidelines for hybrid meetings, be shared with the Liaison Committee. The Board requested that the Administration continue providing the virtual committees’ dashboard to it and agreed that the list of technical sound incidents be analyzed by the Administration.


TRANSLATION BUREAU – RESOURCE UTILISATION FOR SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETATION

Lucie Séguin, Chief Executive Officer, and Matthew Ball, Vice-President, Services to Parliament and Interpretation Sector, both from the Translation Bureau, made a presentation and answered questions.

The Board requested that discussions with respect to this item continue at its next meeting.


The meeting was adjourned at 1:01 p.m.
