A meeting of the Board of Internal Economy of the House of Commons was held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 11:26 a.m., in Room 237-C, Centre Block.

Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the meeting of October 4, 2018, were adopted and approved for tabling.


Business Arising from Previous Meetings

The Board noted correspondence distributed since its last meeting.


2017-2018 AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

Daniel Paquette presented the 2017–2018 audited financial statements. Andrew Newman from KPMG, presented the House of Commons Audit Findings Report for the year ended March 31, 2018.


The Board agreed to proceed in camera, without the participation of House Administration officials, to allow its members to discuss the preparation of the year-end audited financial statements.


At 11:39 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:41 a.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

At 11:49 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:50 a.m., the meeting resumed in public.


REPORT TO CANADIANS

Charles Robert presented the Report to Canadians 2018, which provides an update on Members’ activities and the House Administration’s accomplishments for fiscal year 2017–2018 in support of Members, and answered questions.


The Board agreed that the Speaker proceed with the tabling of the report in the House of Commons as soon as practicable.


JOINT INTERPARLIAMENTARY COUNCIL – PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATIONS’ ACTIVITIES AND EXPENDITURE

Bruce Stanton presented the 2017–2018 Parliamentary Associations’ Activities and Expenditures Report and answered questions.


At 12:15 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:41 p.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

Legal Matters

The Board discussed a legal matter pertaining to the House of Commons Policy on Preventing and Addressing Harassment.

The meeting was adjourned.
