Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee proceeded to a briefing on the current situation in Sudan.

Caroline Delany made statements and, with Julie Desloges and Jacqueline O'Neill, answered questions.

At 5:06 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:12 p.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $2,000, for the briefing on the current situation in Sudan, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $19,066.60, for the study of Canada's advancement of a two-state solution, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the committee meeting of Monday, June 10, 2024, the clerk, in collaboration with the chair, be instructed to edit the records of proceedings, including the notice of meeting, evidence, video and audio recordings of the meeting.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on Friday, April 28, 2023, the committee commenced its study of situation of the Hazaras in Afghanistan.

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Enduring and Overcoming: the Struggle of the Hazaras in Afghanistan".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

The committee resumed the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the committee undertake a study of Canada’s relations in Latin America and in the Caribbean; that the study consist of at least six meetings; that the committee invite relevant heads of missions, Government of Canada officials, and other relevant witnesses to testify; that the committee report its findings to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That the committee invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of International Development to appear before the committee for no less than 2 hours in relation to their priorities for their departments and their mandates before the winter adjournment.

It was agreed, — That the Chair instruct the analysts and the clerk to prepare work plans for the studies of Canada’s advancement of a two‑state solution and of Canada’s relations in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to prepare a draft calendar for the committee’s work until the winter adjournment.

At 5:37 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
