The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Ryan Cleary, Patricia Davidson, Fin Donnelly, Rosane Doré Lefebvre, Bryan Hayes, Randy Kamp, Ryan Leef, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Robert Sopuck, Jonathan Tremblay and Rodney Weston.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen E. Courtney, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on 4 October, 2011, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendation:

That, the Committee resume the study on the Aquaculture in the Pacific Region from the previous Parliament, pursuant to the motion agreed to on Thursday, June 23, 2011, and that the Library of Parliament analyst prepare a work plan for this study, for the next eight weeks.

 

Debate arose thereon.

 

Mike Allen moved, — That the Report be amended by replacing the words “resume the study on the Aquaculture in the Pacific Region” with the words “undertake a study on closed containment salmon aquaculture, including evidence”.

 

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Mike Allen and it was agreed to.

 

On motion of Fin Donnelly, it was agreed, — That the report of the Subcommittee, as amended, be concurred in.

 

The report of the Subcommittee, as amended, read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on 4 October, 2011, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendation:

That, the Committee undertake a study on closed containment salmon aquaculture, including evidence from the previous Parliament, pursuant to the motion agreed to on Thursday, June 23, 2011, and that the Library of Parliament analyst prepare a work plan for this study, for the next eight weeks.

 

At 4:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:09 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 4:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
