The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Brian Masse, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Ève Péclet, Mathieu Ravignat, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

Acting Members present: Denis Blanchette for Raymond Côté.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Chief, Macroeconomics and Trade ; Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Don Stephenson, Chief Trade Negotiator, Canada-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement; Michelle Cooper, Director, Services Trade Policy; Luc Santerre, Director, South, Southeast Asia and Oceania Commercial Relations; Eric Robinson, Deputy Chief Trade Negotiator, Canada-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee commenced its study of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with India.

Don Stephenson made a statement and, with Michelle Cooper and Luc Santerre, answered questions.

At 11:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
