Thursday, June 12, 2003
The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a televised session at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, John Cummins, R. John Efford, Loyola Hearn, Bill Matthews, Carmen Provenzano, Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel, Bob Wood.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: François Côté and Alan Nixon, research officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans: John Adams, Commissioner, Canadian Coast Guard; Larry Murray, Deputy Minister.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced a comprehensive study on the Canadian Coast Guard (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, January 30, 2003, Meeting No. 11).
Larry Murray made a statement and, with John Adams, answered questions.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Committee issue a press release detailing its accomplishments in this session.
At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
