The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Cummins, Rodger Cuzner, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, Dominic LeBlanc, Bill Matthews, Carmen Provenzano, Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel, Bob Wood.
Acting Members present: Paul Steckle for R. John Efford.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: François Côté and Alan Nixon, research officers.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: Hon. Robert Thibault, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.
Witness: From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Jean-Claude Bouchard, Associate Deputy Minister.
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4) and the Order of reference from the House of Commons dated Wednesday, February 26, 2003, the Committee resumed consideration of Votes 1, 5 and 10 under FISHERIES AND OCEANS in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004 (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, March 18, 2003, Meeting No 21).
Hon. Robert Thibault made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
