MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 1
Monday, November 4, 2002
The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and (2).
Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Claude Duplain, Mark Eyking, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Rick Laliberte, Larry McCormick, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Members present: Rob Merrifield for Garry Breitkreuz, Benoît Sauvageau for Louis Plamondon and Suzanne Tremblay for Marcel Gagnon.
Other Member present: Ovid Jackson.
In attendance: From the Committees Directorate: Eugene Morawski, Procedural Clerk.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal and Frédéric Forge, Analyst.
Pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and (2): Election of a Chair and two Vice-Chairs.
The Clerk of the committee presided over the election of the Chair of the Committee.
On motion of Rick Laliberte, it was agreed,- That Charles Hubbard be elected as Chair of the Committee.
Charles Hubbard took the Chair.
On motion of Claude Duplain, it was agreed,- That Murray Calder be elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
Rob Merrifield moved,- That Howard Hilstrom be elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
Suzanne Tremblay moved,- That Louis Plamondon be elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the election of the Opposition Vice-chair of the Committee be secret ballot.
Accordingly, Howard Hilstrom was elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
By unanimous consent, at 4:30 p.m., it was agreed,- That the Committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
