The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Claude Duplain, Mark Eyking, Charles Hubbard, Larry McCormick, Louis Plamondon, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: David Chatters for Gary Breitkreuz.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst.
Witnesses: From the Department of the Environment: Norine Smith, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Communications. From the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Gordon Dorrell, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Research Branch; Michele Brenning, Director, Environment Bureau, Strategic Policy; Wayne Lindwall, National Program Leader, Environmental Health. From the Department of Natural Resources: Tony Taylor, Director, Transportation Energy.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the impact of the Kyoto Protocol on the agricultural sector.
Norine Smith from the Department of the Environment and Gordon Dorrell from the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
