The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Charles L. Caccia, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roy Bailey, Bernard Bigras, Charles L. Caccia, Karen Kraft Sloan, Bob Mills, Karen Redman, Julian Reed, Andy Savoy, Hélène Scherrer, Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas and Tim Williams, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Environmental Network: Jamie Kneen, Co-Chair, Environmental Planning and Assessment Caucus; John Sinclair, Co-Chair, Environmental Planning and Assessment Caucus. From the Canadian Hydropower Association: Pierre Fortin, Executive Director; Pierre Lundhal, Environmental Advisor. From the Canadian Environment Industry Association: Lucien Cattrysse, Chair of Technical Advisory Group; Ed Norrena, Director, Board of Directors; Rebecca Last, Director of Programs and Policy.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Monday, June 4, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, December 4, 2001, Meeting No. 56).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 10:40 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
