The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:16 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Cliff Breitkreuz, Sarmite Bulte, Irwin Cotler, Pierre de Savoye, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Mark Muise.

From the "Association nationale des éditeurs de livres": Gaëtan Lévesque, Vice-President, Publishing of General Literature; Benoit Prieur, Deputy Director. From the Association of Canadian Publishers: Michael Harrison, President; Susan Renouf, Vice-President. From the Canadian Publishers' Council: Claude Primeau, President and CEO, HarperCollins Canada Ltd., Immediate Past-President CPC; Jacqueline Hushion, Executive Director. From the Association of Canadian Book Wholesalers: Peter Waldock, President. From the Literary Press Group of Canada: Manuela Dias, Chair; Karl Siegler, Chair of the Policy group. The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.
