MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 20
Tuesday, April 4, 2000
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Pierre de Savoye, Wendy Lill, Rick Limoges, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Dennis Mills, Mark Muise, Alex Shepherd.
Acting Members present: Marcel Proulx for Irwin Cotler; Hec Clouthier for Sarmite Bulte.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Researcher.
It was agreed,- That the Committee sit in camera.
It was agreed,-That the Chair communicate with potential witnesses regarding the Canadian Book Publishing Industry Study to determine their availability to appear at an "in camera" meeting.
It was agreed,- That the Committee retain the professional services of David Black for the purposes of completing its study on the Canadian Book Publishing Industry, for a maximum of 20 days at a per diem rate of $500.00, the total not amount not to exceed $10,000.00 for the period between April 1st and June 15, 2000.
It was agreed,- That the Committee retain the professional services of Kevin Burns for the purposes of completing its study on the Canadian Book Publishing Industry, for a maximum of 20 days at a per diem rate of $400.00, the total not amount not to exceed $8,000.00 for the period between April 1st and June 15, 2000.
It was agreed,- That the Minister of Canadian Heritage and senior officials of the Department be invited to appear before the Committee for the Main Estimates 2000-01 and Report on Plan and Priorities.
It was agreed,- That the National Capital Commission be invited to appear before the Committee.
At 12:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
