Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) [and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 21, 2016, the Committee commenced its study on Wild Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Kevin Stringer and Gérald Chaput made statements and, with Trevor Swerdfager, answered questions.

At 4:27 p.m., Robert Sopuck took the Chair.

At 4:29 p.m., Scott Simms took the Chair.

At 5:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:14 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $21,300, for the study on Wild Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, be concurred in.

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, May 5, 2016, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee begin hearing witness testimony as part of its study on Wild Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada on May 12, 17 and 19 and in June.

2. That the Committee authorize the Clerk, in collaboration with the Chair, to prepare various comparative budget proposals for a trip in the fall of 2016 as part of its studies of the Northern Cod Stock and the Wild Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada.

3. That the Committee, at the discretion of the Chair and its members, meet sporadically in May and June for one or two meetings on matters of interest that fall under its mandate.

4. That the Committee accept requests for individual meetings from organizations with the entire Committee only when the matter is part of a specific study and the organization can be invited as a witness.

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
