Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the Committee commenced its study of the impact of the rapid increase of the striped bass in the Miramichi River and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Martin Mallet, by videoconference from Moncton, New Brunswick, and Jeff Wilson made statements and answered questions.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 21,300, for the study of the impact of the rapid increase of the striped bass in the Miramichi River and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to Bill S-203, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and other Acts (ending the captivity of whales and dolphins), starting in March 2019, one meeting be dedicated to testimonies from witnesses and one meeting be dedicated to clause-by-clause consideration, and that the dates be determined by the Chair.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the regulation of the West Coast fisheries, the final reccomendations be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the receipt of briefs in relation to the study of the regulation of the West Coast fisheries be Friday, March 8, 2019.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the migration of lobster and snow crab and the health of their stocks in Atlantic Canada, the lists of suggested witnesses be sent to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019.

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
