The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a video recorded session at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Jean Crowder, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Charlie Angus, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Brad Butt, Blaine Calkins, John Carmichael, Jean Crowder, Patricia Davidson, Dean Del Mastro, Earl Dreeshen, Pierre-Luc Dusseault and Colin Mayes.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada: Suzanne Legault, Information Commissioner; Emily McCarthy, General Counsel and Acting Assistant Information Commisioner. As individuals: Marc-François Bernier, Professor, Research Chair in communication of the Canadian Francophonie, specializing in journalism ethics (CREJ), University of Ottawa; Pierre Trudel, Professor, Public Law Research Centre, Université de Montréal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 20, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the access to information dispute and the resulting court actions concerning CBC.
 

Suzanne Legault made a statement and, with Emily McCarthy, answered questions.

 

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:52 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Marc-François Bernier and Pierre Trudel made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
