The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Charmaine Borg, Alexandre Boulerice, Brad Butt, John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson, Earl Dreeshen, Pierre-Luc Dusseault and Colin Mayes.

 

Acting Members present: David J. McGuinty for Scott Andrews and Chris Warkentin for Dean Del Mastro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Miguel Bernal-Castillero, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Chris Warkentin moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson, Earl Dreeshen, Colin Mayes, Chris Warkentin — 5; NAYS: Charlie Angus, Charmaine Borg, Alexandre Boulerice, David J. McGuinty — 4.

 

At 3:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the growing problem of identity theft and its economic impact upon citizens and businesses and the steps that businesses and law enforcement agencies are taking to protect Canadians from identity theft, and that the Committee report its findings to Parliament.

 

At 3:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
