The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Bourgeois, Jean Dorion, Judy Foote, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Yasmin Ratansi and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Gordon Clarke for Rob Anders, Phil McColeman for Ed Holder and Jeffrey David Watson for Patrick Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, October 8, 2009, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee considers the following themes during its scheduled sittings on the week of October 19, depending on the witnesses’ availability: (1) the large information technology projects and (2) the stimulus package.

Your Steering Committee has made suggestions on witnesses to be called: for the stimulus package, the Canadian Federation of Municipalities (CFM) and its Quebec branch among others; for the large information technology meeting, witnesses will include the Minister of Public Works and Government Services and his officials.

The Clerk of the Committee will provide information by email on which topic will fall on which day.

2. As the Public Service Commission will be tabling its report on Friday, October 9, 2009, your Steering Committee decided to review its five audited reports before making a decision on future business.

 

It was agreed, — That the Second Report of the Subcommittee be concurred in.

 

At 3:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
