The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Paul Calandra, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Derek Lee, Pat Martin, Hon. Dan McTeague, Jean-Yves Roy and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Szabo for Hon. Dan McTeague.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Hughes Létourneau, Intern.

 

Witnesses: Treasury Board Secretariat: Alister Smith, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector. Privy Council Office: Tim Sargent, Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Liaison Secretariat for Macroeconomic Policy. Department of Finance: Chris Forbes, Director, Fiscal Policy Division, Economic and Fiscal Policy Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the economic stimulus package.
 

Alister Smith made a statement and, with Tim Sargent and Chris Forbes, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Diane Bourgeois moved, — That the Committee ask the President of the Public Service Commission to report on all the concerns raised during her two appearances, before the Committee reports .

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 10; NAYS: 0.

 

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
