Meeting No. 37

Thursday, February 15, 2007

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met in camera at 11:12 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Colin Mayes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Hon. Larry Bagnell, Steven Blaney, Rod Bruinooge, Jean Crowder, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Colin Mayes, Hon. Anita Neville and Todd Norman Russell.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst ; Tonina Simeone, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the analysts prepare a summary report of the recommendations from past reports on Housing issues, for the committee's review next week in relation to its study of Housing.

It was agreed, — That the committee devote next week's meetings to appearances by officials from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada regarding the Cree-Naskapi Commissions's biennial report as well as for a briefing on progress in Pikangikum, and by officials from Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada regarding the Annual Report of the Correctional Investigator .

It was agreed, — That members of the committee submit to either the Chair or the Clerk their recommendations for witnesses and a focus for the committee's study of child welfare.

At 12:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
