Meeting No. 9

Wednesday, October 31, 2001

The Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:26 p.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Libby Davies, John Godfrey, Monique Guay, Carol Skelton, Diane St-Jacques and Tony Tirabassi.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Mackenzie, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities (See Minutes of Proceedings of March 1, 2000 – Meeting No.06), the Sub-Committee proceeded to discuss its future business.

It was agreed, -- That the Sub-Committee invite witnesses from the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, the Department of Health, the Department of Justice and the Department of Human Resources Development to discuss the federal programs available to and status of aboriginal children living on and off reserves.

It was agreed, -- That the researcher prepare a document detailing the programs available in each province to aboriginal children from the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, the Department of Health, the Department of Justice and the Department of Human Resources Development.

At 3:54 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
