Wednesday, February 27, 2002

The Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a videoconference at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: John Godfrey, Monique Guay, Anita Neville, Larry Spencer and Alan Tonks.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Mackenzie, Research Officer.

Witness(es): From the B.C. Aboriginal Child Care Society: Robert Lagassé, Director; Karen Isaac, Program Manager. From the Inter Tribal Health Authority: Heather Payne, Community Health Consultant. From the Tlazten Nation: Ed John, Grand Chief.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on the status of aboriginal children living on and off reserves and on federal programs available to them (See Minutes of Proceedings of March 01, 2001 – Meeting No.06).

Robert Lagassé, Heather Payne and Ed John each made a statement and, with Karen Isaac, answered questions.

At 5:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
