The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Laurin Liu, James Lunney, François Pilon, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tim Williams, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 19, 2011, the Committee resumed its statutory review of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 3:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Statutory Review of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act: Protecting the Environment, Managing our Resources".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report supplementary and/or dissenting opinions from members of the Liberal Party and the New Democratic Party provided that they be no more than five (5) pages in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, no later than Friday, March 9, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. (noon).

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

At 4:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
