The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, James Lunney, François Pilon, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Brian Storseth, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Pierre Jacob for Megan Anissa Leslie and Joyce Murray for Kirsty Duncan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Ducks Unlimited Canada: Greg Siekaniec, Chief Executive Officer; Jim Brennan, Director of Government Affairs. Nature Conservancy of Canada: John Lounds, President; Michael Bradstreet, Vice-President, Conservation; Lisa McLaughlin, Conservation Compliance Manager. Delta Waterfowl Foundation: Jonathan Scarth, Senior Vice-President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 14, 2013, the Committee resumed its study on habitat conservation in Canada.
 

Greg Siekaniec, John Lounds and Jonathan Scarth made statements and, with Michael Bradstreet and Jim Brennan, answered questions.

 

At 10:29 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:30 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy 2013-2016 for one meeting before the summer adjournment; that the Committee invite the Minister of the Environment and department officials for the first hour; and that the Committee invite two witnesses from the government party, and one witness from each of the opposition parties for the second hour.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of the Environment and department officials to appear before the Committee for one hour regarding the Reports on Plans and Priorities 2013-2014 before the summer adjournment.

 

At 10:34 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
