The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, François Pilon, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Brian Storseth, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe for Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Pierre Jacob for Megan Anissa Leslie and Hon. John McKay for Kirsty Duncan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Arne Mooers, Professor of Biological Diversity, Department of Biological Sciences, Simon Fraser University. Conservation Halton: Kim Barrett, Senior Terrestrial Ecologist. Keystone Agricultural Producers: Doug Chorney, President. Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation: Darrell Crabbe, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 14, 2013, the Committee resumed its study on habitat conservation in Canada.
 

Arne Mooers, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Kim Barrett, by videoconference from Burlington, Ontario, Doug Chorney, by videconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Darrell Crabbe, by videoconference from Regina, Saskatchewan, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
