The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 7:00 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Harold Albrecht, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Paul Calandra, Patricia Davidson, Hon. Wayne Easter, Carole Freeman, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, Bill Siksay and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Associate Members present: Rob Clarke and Hon. Anita Neville.

 

Other Members present: Marcel Proulx.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Dara Lithwick, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Kasra Nejatian.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March 7, 2011, the Committee commenced its study of the issuance by the office of the Minister of Immigration of the letter dated March 3, 2011 on the matter of the circulation of the presentation entitled "Breaking Through - Building the Conservative Brand in Cultural Communities."
 

On motion of Wayne Easter, it was agreed, — That the evidence to be given by Kasra Nejatian in relation to the study on the issuance by the office of the Minister of Immigration of the letter dated March 3, 2011 on the matter of the circulation of the presentation entitled "Breaking Through - Building the Conservative Brand in Cultural Communities," be taken under oath or by solemn affirmation.

 

Accordingly, Kasra Nejatian was called, duly sworn in and examined.

 

Kasra Nejatian made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 8:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
