The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), recognizing that post-secondary education falls under provincial and territorial jurisdiction, the committee undertake a study on the measures that the Government of Canada can take to administer federal funds and the positive measures taken by federal institutions with respect to post-secondary education for official language minority communities (OLMCs); that, as part of this study, the committee: (a) assess the magnitude of the challenges faced by OLMCs in order to receive a proper education in the official language of their choice; (b) assess the capacity of the Canadian French-language post-secondary system to adequately meet training needs pursuant to section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; (c) study, in particular, the situation at the Saint-Jean Campus in Alberta, Laurentian University in Ontario and the Université de Moncton; that the committee allocate a minimum of four (4) meetings to this study; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the government table a comprehensive response.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, October 22, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the government’s ability to deliver information in both official languages.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the committee resumed its study of challenges of the parliamentary interpretation service in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the committee do now adjourn.

At 5:51 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
