The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 8:50 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Vice-Chair, Peter Stoffer, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Sean Casey, Bryan Hayes, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Irene Mathyssen, Erin O'Toole, Peter Stoffer and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Carol Hughes for Sylvain Chicoine and Annick Papillon for Manon Perreault.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs: Melissa McDiarmid, Medical Director, Depleted Uranium Program, Toxic Embedded Fragment Surveillance Center. Scientific Advisory Committee on Veterans’ Health: Pierre Morisset, Chairman of the Committee.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of depleted uranium and Canadian veterans.
 

Melissa McDiarmid, by videoconference from Baltimore, Maryland, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 9:43 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Pierre Morisset made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:37 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to purchase gifts to be presented during the Committee's travel to Washington D.C. on April 15th and 16th, 2013.

 

At 10:48 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
