The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Sean Casey, Sylvain Chicoine, Bryan Hayes, Greg Kerr, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Irene Mathyssen, Erin O'Toole, Manon Perreault and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Isabelle Morin for Peter Stoffer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Korea Veterans Association of Canada: John Bishop, National President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 9, 2013, the Committee resumed consideration of the subject Matter of Clauses 156 to 160 (Pension Act and War Veterans Allowance Act) of Bill C-60, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures.
 

John Bishop made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 9:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Erin O'Toole moved, — That, following its consideration of the subject matter of clauses 156 to 160 (Pension Act and War Veterans Allowance Act) of Bill C-60, the Committee send a letter to the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance informing him that the Committee has no recommendations to propose.

Debate arose thereon.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 1.

 

At 10:09 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:09 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $4,150 for the study of the subject matter of clauses 156 to 160 (Pension Act and War Veterans Allowance Act) of Bill C-60, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet on Tuesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 30, 2013 to consider the draft report in relation to the study on Depleted Uranium and Canadian Veterans.

 

At 10:29 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
