The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Sean Casey, Réjean Genest, Greg Kerr, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Irene Mathyssen, Annick Papillon, Peter Stoffer and Brian Storseth.

 

Acting Members present: Phil McColeman for Richard M. Harris and Mark Strahl for Rob Anders.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Keith Hillier, Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Delivery; Raymond Lalonde, Director, National Centre for Operational Stress Injuries, Ste. Anne's Hospital. Office of the Veterans Ombudsman: Guy Parent, Veterans Ombudsman, Chief Warrant Officer (Retired); Gary Walbourne, Director General, Operations.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Irene Mathyssen moved, — That, in the opinion of the Committee, Rob Anders, MP for Calgary West, be removed from Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

 

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled the motion out of order as the ability to make committee membership changes belongs to the House.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 24, 2011, the Committee resumed its review of the delivery of front-line health and wellbeing services for Canadian Veterans.
 

Guy Parent and Keith Hillier made statements and, with Gary Walbourne and Raymond Lalonde, answered questions.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
