The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the President, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Rob Anders, Sean Casey, Joe Daniel, Réjean Genest, Greg Kerr, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Irene Mathyssen, Annick Papillon, Peter Stoffer and Brian Storseth.

 

Acting Members present: Rick Dykstra for Wladyslaw Lizon and Rick Dykstra for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martin Auger, Analyst. House of Commons: Marc-Olivier Girard, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Vimy Foundation: David Houghton, President. Juno Beach Centre Association: Susan Mousseau, Director. EF Educational Tours Canada: Greg Owen, Vice-President, Public Affairs and Event Tours; David Robinson, National Student Tour Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of commemorative celebrations in the twenty-first century.
 

Greg Owen, David Robinson, Susan Mousseau and David Houghton made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:11 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:21 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Veterans Affairs to appear on the subject of Supplementary Estimates (B) 2011-2012 and that the Minister's appearance be televised.

 

It was agreed, — That the suggested date to invite the Minister of Veterans Affairs to appear be Thursday, November 24, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That a meeting devoted to Committee business be scheduled for Tuesday, November 22, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the analyst prepare a draft report on the study of commemorative celebrations in the twenty-first century and that the draft report be considered on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee's next study commence on Thursday, December 1, 2011.

 

At 10:32 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
