The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 12:07 p.m. this day, in Room 213, Wellington Building, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Mario Silva and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: Jean Dorion for Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Robert Dufresne, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Hon. Irwin Cotler, P.C., M.P., Mount Royal. As an individual: Robert Ivan Martin, Professor, University of Western Ontario.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of human rights Commissions.
 

Robert Ivan Martin made a statement and answered questions.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of human rights in Iran.
 

At 12:58 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Hon. Irwin Cotler made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 1:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:22 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

The Subcommittee proceeded to give instructions to its Analysts on a draft report.

 

At 1:58 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
