The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 12:47 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Hon. Irwin Cotler, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Mario Silva, David Sweet and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Robert Dufresne, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Parliament of the Czech Republic: Zuzka Bebarová-Rujbrová, Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Petitions; Hana Orgoníková, Member of Parliament and Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Petitions; Vera Bizova, Secretary of the Committee for Petitions; Pavel Hrncir, Member of Parliament and Member of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Petitions; Frantisek Laudát, Member of Parliament and Member of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Petitions. Embassy of the Czech Republic: Karel Hejc, First Secretary; H.E. Karel Zebrakovsky, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Canada. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, the Subcommittee met with representatives of a delegation from the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
 

Zuzka Bebarova-Rujbrova made a statement and with the other delegates answered questions.

 

At 2:00 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
