The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sukh Dhaliwal, Russ Hiebert, Carole Lavallée, Pat Martin, Richard Nadeau, Glen Douglas Pearson, Paul Szabo, David Tilson, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Judy Sgro for Hon. Charles Hubbard.

 

Associate Members present: Luc Harvey.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Holmes, Analyst; Lydia Scratch, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada: Robert Marleau, Information Commissioner; Suzanne Legault, Assistant Commissioner, Policy, Communications and Operations; Andrea Neill, Assistant Commissioner, Complaints Resolution and Compliance. As an individual: Heather H. Black.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Vote 40 under JUSTICE referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
 

Robert Marleau made a statement and, with the other witnesses, from the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 22, 2007, the Committee commenced its study of the Privacy Act Reform.
 

Heather Black made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
