The Standing Committee on Finance met at 1:03 p.m. this day, at the Hyatt Regency, Plaza B & C, Vancouver, British Columbia, the Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rona Ambrose, Don H. Bell, Massimo Pacetti and Charlie Penson.

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Guy Côté and Jean Crowder for Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal ; Sheena Starky, Analyst . Standing Committee on Finance: Christine Lafrance, Clerk of the Committee.

Witnesses: British Columbia Child Care Advocacy Forum: Rita Chudnovsky, Facilitator; Pat Frouws, Representative, Advocacy Forum, Simon Fraser University Childcare Society. City of Vancouver: Sheila Davidson, Child and Youth Advocate; Anne Roberts, City councillor. Coalition of Child Care Advocates of British Columbia: Susan Harney, Chairperson; Sharon Gregson, Chairperson. Institute for Media, Policy and Civil Society: Shauna Sylvester, Executive Director; Richard Bridge, Legal Counsel. Kids First Parent Association of Canada: Helen Ward, President. Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network: Ted Kuntz, President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2005.

Rita Chudnovsky, Sheila Davidson, Anne Roberts, Sharon Gregson, Shauna Sylvester, Helen Ward and Ted Kuntz made statements and, with Pat Frouws and Susan Harney, answered questions.

At 2:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
